Praise Report from UNSHACKLED PRISON MINISTRY

By Assistant Director, Alicia Siryon Wells

If you are driving down Pontiac Avenue passing "Power" Road in Cranston on Sunday evening, particularly, the third Sunday of the month, you may feel a quickening in your spirit. And you may say to yourself, hmm, what was that----And the Lord may just reveal to you that "Revival is taking place inside the walls of the women's prison!" It is on these Sunday evenings, during the Christian Chapel Service, the Unshackled Prison is lifting up and glorifying the Lord through the arts. It is on these Sunday evenings that the women within the prison experience the manifestation of God through dance, song, music, and spoken word. In 2014 song favorites included Sing, Sing, Sing and Clean this House. A powerful dance to Shirley Caesars' "Put on the Armor of God" allowed for the women to full grasp the message from Ephesians 6:10-18. It also in 2014 the Lord allowed for the Unshackled Prison Ministry to fully take over the Christian chapel service and not only bring forth the arts, but the Word as well. Minister Melodie's message entitled "Aggrandized by His Grace" captured the attention of the women when describing the Japanese culture of cracking pots and remaking them to appear greater and more valuable. 2014 closed out with the TEN Eagles from Massachusetts ministering in dance to "Oh How He Loves Us" during a very spirited Christmas Service. Favorite moments for the Unshackled Ministry members and guest artists included hearing the testimonies and time of thanksgiving as wells as watching the women themselves utilize their own gifts of song, acting, spoken word, and dance. We look forward to another exciting year at the Cranston Women's ACI and we are so grateful to God and Chaplin Joy for allowing us to go behind the walls and fully embody Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed meto proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom to the captive.
